Quality, down-to-earth establishment. Great value for money. Wonderful views. Clean, very good standard rooms. Well-run. You won’t be disappointed by anyone but perhaps the guests… Note that the food in the downstairs restaurant is good standard as well, with fantastic service (for Australia, top 5% level). Beautiful sunset across the water - and don’t miss the pontoon! Overall, money well spent on a well-managed business with great staff.
It was a stay we needed.
Everything about Rosevears is fault less. From check in to check out. It was a great couple of days.
Plus the old pub in front was an amazing place
From breakfast from the adjoining bakery to dinner in the restaurant.
Would recommend to anyone wanting a great little getaway
I've eaten here before and enjoyed my meal. Today was awful. No potato left in my chips at all. Deep fried till they were just oil. Grilled fish was definitely not cooked on a grill . Probably the worst meal I've had in a while. Told staff about chips and they just said they'd let the kitchen know. The staff in the kitchen should not have let the meal go out like that.

It looks like a fantastic place to go from the road.
But once you go in there - staff seem disinterested unless you have a booking reservation.
I felt like I was a complete inconvenience to their day by being there - and the audacity to turn up without a booking reservation seem to irritate the staff! Which is interesting considering the place seemed dead quiet at lunch time.
Obviously they didn't need my money as they said every single table was booked. So I left and went to my local tavern instead where I had a much better experience.
Went for lunch as this pub is almost 200 years old and is listed online as a good pub to visit.
They have a bar called the Locals Bar which had several customers that looked like regulas there. They seemed to look at me questioningly as I entered. Whilst not necessarily hostile it felt like they didn't really want me to be there. So, we went straight to the terrace. Which was fine.
The young waitresses advised that table service was the preferred option yet were only somewhat attentive to our needs. We had to go back to the bar to get additional drinks.
View was great and the food was excellent quality.
It is definitely a location to add to your itinerary when in Launceston.
Very nice place to stay, very clean, with plentiful towels, soaps etc
Bathroom laid out suitable for access as needed - I actually enjoyed have a shower using the shower seat 😀
We stayed in the middle section, very pretty views
Bakery was nice also
Restaurant was pretty good, food served quickly and was tasty
My partner and I decided to stop in and have lunch at Rosevears Hotel, we were greeted by one of the staff and asked we had made a booking, which we had not, the waitress then grunted under her breath and then guided us to a table. The table she sat us at was towards the rear of the restaurant and away from any decent views of the Tamar River. Also, there was a large group already sat right next to us at a larger table which had children who were seated at the closer end of the table already making some noise.. not that I have a problem with chiIdren but clearly the parents weren't making any effort in keeping the noise levels of the kids down and be respectful of other patrons. But I digress, I asked the waitress if we could have a different table, somewhere with a better view but she immediately said they were fully booked out and NO other tables were available.. (insert cricket sound here)
The restaurant was very sparsely occupied at the time, I'd say not even at 10% capacity, and I noticed only a few of the larger tables were marked as "reserved" but none others. I understand lunch periods can get busy but I highly doubt that in the next 30 or more minutes the place would have been jammed packed with other guests to the point that no other tables would be available. Regardless, we sat and the waitress hurriedly slapped a couple of menu's on our table and quickly shuffled off. We started to peruse the menu but had not been seated for more than a minute only to be bothered by a few flies that were buzzing around. This is something we simply wouldn't tolerate especially when our meals arrive.
We decided to leave and go to our local pub instead, yes we are locals and not tourists which I suspect the waitress thought we were and treated us as so.
She was quite rude and abrupt in her manner towards us.
We could have easily been seated at a different table and I am more than sure they would have still been able to accommodate the "booked" patrons as they arrived afterwards.
The waitress saw us get up and leave yet made no effort in anyway to offer a different option and convince us to stay.
We can't help but feel very disappointed by this and had been looking forward to having a nice lunch with a beautiful view but clearly this wasn't the case and god forbid we didn't make a prior booking. Definitely won't bother going back for a second attempt.
Went for an evening meal. Full house, so relegated to near entry rather than front River view. Food was excellent on time and with very nice table service.
